Empire Company Limited ("Empire" or the "Company") (TSX: EMP.A) has announced exciting new partnerships with Instacart (NASDAQ:CART) and Uber Eats (NYSE:UBER), enhancing the ways customers can shop online for groceries. These collaborations expand upon Empire's existing Voilà home delivery service and aim to meet the evolving needs of consumers in the fast-paced e-commerce landscape.

Beginning in Ontario, Empire’s banner stores will be featured on both the Instacart and Uber Eats apps, making it easier for customers to access their favorite grocery items from the comfort of their homes. This initiative is expected to roll out across Canada, further solidifying Empire's position in the online grocery market.

The launch of these partnerships is a strategic response to shifting market dynamics and consumer preferences, particularly within the immediacy segment of e-commerce. Doug Nathanson, Chief Development Officer at Empire, emphasized the significance of these developments: "We are excited to be expanding our e-commerce offering and continuing to grow the market. Through these new partnerships, Empire has expanded how customers can shop our banners, giving us access to a larger segment of the e-commerce market."

The new collaboration allows customers to use their preferred app to select an Empire banner store, fill their virtual baskets, and enjoy the convenience of home delivery. For FreshCo customers in Ontario, this marks a significant enhancement, as they can now have their favorite products delivered directly to their doorstep for the first time.

Chris Rogers, Chief Business Officer at Instacart, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We're always looking for ways to bring more variety and convenience to our customers. We're thrilled to grow our presence in Canada by welcoming Empire's iconic grocery store banners to the Instacart App." Rogers, who has personal ties to Canada and its grocery landscape, highlighted the importance of providing an exceptional online grocery experience to Empire’s customers.

Similarly, Klaas Knieriem, Head of Grocery and Retail for Uber Eats in Canada, noted the expanding capabilities of their platform. "We are thrilled to welcome Empire and its banners to the Uber Eats app," he said. "Canadians now have more grocery options available to choose from right from the Uber or Uber Eats apps they already have on their phones, delivering with the on-demand speed Uber is known for."

As grocery shopping habits continue to shift toward online platforms, Empire's strategic partnerships with Instacart and Uber Eats represent a proactive approach to meet consumer demand. By leveraging these established platforms, Empire aims to provide enhanced accessibility and convenience to its customers, creating a comprehensive online shopping experience.
