The main Canadian equity index recorded slight gains as the health care and information technology sectors stayed positive during the trading session.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index was up by 0.01 per cent and closed at 18,444.22 points. Meanwhile, the health care and IT sectors were up 0.22 per cent and 0.25 per cent.

Kinross Gold Corporation (TSX: K) recorded the highest volume on September 30; its 10.4 million shares were traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. In second place was Barrick Gold Corporation (TSX: ABX), with a volume of 8.15 million shares.
Followed by Barrick Gold was Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX: YRI), as 7.36 YRI shares exchanged hands on the TSX.
Wall Street update
The equities market in the US were in the negative territory as the NASDAQ Composite declined by 1.5 per cent to 10,575.62 points. Meanwhile, the NYSE Composite decreased by one per cent and closed at 13,472.18 points.
The price of gold for December delivery increased by 0.12 per cent to US$ 1,670.55 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, the WTI Futures were down by 1.1 per cent to US$ 81.23 per barrel.
The Brent Oil Contract was down by 0.99 per cent to US$ 87.18 per barrel.
The CAD/USD decreased by 0.89 per cent to 0.72, and the US Dollar Index Futures were down by 0.1 per cent at 112.1.
