Here are recent developments at BHP Limited

On 22 December 2022, BHP revealed that it had entered into a scheme implementation deed (SID) with OZ Minerals (ASX:OZL) to acquire 100% of OZL.
BHP would be paying AU$28.25 per OZL share under the scheme.
BHP shared that this is a non-indicative proposal, and the SID will be following a four-week exclusive due diligence period.
As per BHP, at the offer price of AU$28.25 per OZL share, OZL is valued at AU$9.6 billion.
In its Annual General Meeting held in November 2022, BHP highlighted that it has delivered strong operational and financial results in 2022.
The company recorded EBITDA of US$40.6 billion, up 16%, free cash flow of US$25.2 billion, up 30% and declared a total dividend of US$3.25 per share.
BHP’s cash returns to shareholders for the year stood at US$16.4 billion. The company also distributed a further US$19.6 billion in value as an in-specie dividend via the merger of its petroleum business with Woodside. In total, BHP provided US$36 billion in value returned to shareholders last year.
BHP shared that its global economic contribution topped US$78 billion in the last financial year. This includes more than US$57 billion in Australia.

BHP shares have marked a gain of 4.25% in the last five trading days on the ASX. In the previous one month of trading, the company has gained 8.56%. In the last six months of trading, BHP has increased 34.11%, and in the last year of trading, it has accelerated by 7.43%. On a year-to-date basis, BHP has gained 9.38% and in the last five years, it has surged by 61.55% (as of 2:49 PM AEDT, 16 January 2023).
