Fenix Resources Ltd (ASX:FEX) has expanded its operational reach in Western Australia’s Weld Range by acquiring two key iron ore tenements, enhancing the company’s position in a region known for high-grade hematite deposits.
The acquisitions include the historic Beebynganna Hills iron ore project, which was secured from Spartan Resources Ltd. Previous exploration by Giralia Resources NL revealed promising hematite mineralization with grades reaching up to 65% Fe. This site is strategically located just 18 kilometres from Fenix’s Iron Ridge mine and 13 kilometres from Beebyn-W11, providing logistical advantages for potential resource development.
The second acquisition, referred to as Beebyn North, sits at the northeast end of the Weld Range, approximately 14 kilometres from Beebyn-W11. This exploration tenement enhances the company's regional footprint and aligns with its strategy to strengthen resource potential close to existing operations.
Fenix Resources’ executive chairman highlighted the company’s commitment to unlocking the region’s resource potential, emphasizing that the Weld Range has already demonstrated significant value. The company has produced over six million tonnes of high-quality iron ore from the Iron Ridge Mine since 2020, generating revenues exceeding $800 million.
The historic Weld Range has long been recognized for hosting high-quality iron ore deposits, and these new acquisitions further underscore Fenix’s intention to expand production volumes and optimize regional assets. Positioned close to existing operations, the newly acquired tenements provide opportunities for exploration, resource development, and operational efficiencies.
Fenix continues to focus on regional growth, leveraging established infrastructure and expertise to unlock value from Western Australia’s iron ore resources.
