Antares Metals initiates uranium-focused field activities at Mt Isa North Project
Exploration centred on historical prospects including Queens Gift and Joker
Geophysical surveys and sampling set to support future drill planning
Antares Metals (ASX:AM5), listed on the ASX 300, is accelerating its uranium exploration program at the Mt Isa North Project in Queensland. The company is deploying its geological team to carry out detailed ground-based surveys and rock sampling, focusing on multiple high-priority targets including the historical Queens Gift prospect.
This renewed exploration initiative aligns with the company's broader strategic push into critical mineral resources, building on previous geological insights to better define uranium mineralisation across key areas within its extensive tenement package.
Priority Targets and Survey Strategy
Out of nearly fifty identified uranium prospects within the Mt Isa North Project, Antares has narrowed its near-term focus to ten that exhibit strong geological similarities to known deposits. The selected zones feature structural, radiometric, and magnetic indicators consistent with albitite-hosted systems, including the type found at Paladin Resources’ (ASX:PDN) Valhalla project.
Survey efforts are initially concentrated on verifying surface expressions of mineralisation. Ground spectrometry and field-based validation are expected to guide more precise drill targeting as the company aims to test extensions of previously explored mineral systems.
Queens Gift and Historical Prospects Under Review
The Queens Gift prospect has emerged as a significant focus, with historical data indicating uranium mineralisation over an extended strike length. According to the company, the mineralised system remains open both at depth and along strike, suggesting further potential beyond the previously defined limits.
Located within the Cromwell metabasalt suite, Queens Gift and adjacent zones such as Joker and Skevi share geological features linked with earlier drill intercepts and assay results. Antares intends to update and expand resource understanding based on new field data, integrating findings into its next stage of exploration activity.
Balanced Focus on Copper and Uranium Developments
While uranium is now taking centre stage, Antares has also been active in copper exploration throughout the year. The Surprise and Conglomerate Creek prospects have undergone successive drilling phases, providing a complementary portfolio of base and energy metals within the broader Mt Isa district.
