Kevin Walters admits his Brisbane side just has to "cop a bit of medicine" after South Sydney delivered the NRL ladder leaders a reality check.
Brisbane started well but butchered several chances on Friday at Suncorp Stadium, Souths then scoring 20 unanswered second-half points in a 32-6 win.
Campbell Graham was the hero for the visitors with a hat-trick while Latrell Mitchell was influential in the second half and bench forwards Thomas Burgess and Tevita Tatola both ran for 201 metres.
It was just the second Broncos loss this season and came without the suspended Payne Haas and emerging half Ezra Mam.
Walters described Haas as the best prop in the game but said the platform had still been laid by his offsiders, their lack of composure costing them against Souths.
"Sometimes you can't always score, but you've got to create that mentality (to remain patient)," Walters said.
"We were not building any scoreboard pressure ... the longer the game went, the worse we got.
"What they did to us, we've been doing to teams for the last eight weeks.
"It was our turn to cop a bit of medicine ... good lessons learned, get ready for next week."
Mam and Haas will be back for the side's Magic Round clash with Manly in a boost after debutant Jock Madden struggled to make an impact alongside Reynolds in the No.6.
He laid a good early tackle on his tryline and defused a tricky cross-field bomb in-goal but was quiet in attack.
"He tried really hard. For his first game he'll disappointed the fact we lost," Walters said.
"He's a competitor and there will be better days ahead for Jock."
