Himax Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:HIMX) has announced that its WiseEye™ ultralow power AI sensing solution has been incorporated into Acer’s Swift Edge 14 AI series, a lightweight AI notebook currently in mass production. The integration introduces advanced human detection and interactive awareness features, including Human Presence Detection (HPD), health reminders for prolonged use or close viewing, posture correction notifications, and a multi-screen assist function that moves the cursor to the screen the user is viewing. Operating at milliwatt-level power consumption, WiseEye enables always-on intelligent sensing, supporting device standby and wake-up timing while reducing power consumption during idle periods.

The adoption of WiseEye in Acer’s AI notebook follows its implementation in multiple notebook models from other leading brands. This marks another stage in the deployment of Himax’s ultralow power AI sensing technology within battery-powered notebooks. The technology is designed to provide accurate sensing while maintaining low energy consumption, enhancing device efficiency and battery life.

Acer’s Swift Edge 14 AI notebook weighs just 0.99 kilograms and offers up to 21 hours of battery life. The notebook features an OLED display, Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor, and delivers 48 TOPS of AI computing performance. It supports the Copilot+ PC platform, which includes built-in AI applications for work and entertainment.

“Himax WiseEye ultralow power AI sensing solutions continue to gain adoption from leading international brands, underscoring our pivotal role in accelerating the integration of AI into battery-powered endpoint devices. The successful adoption in Acer’s AI PC further demonstrates WiseEye’s capability to expand into a broader range of battery-driven applications, empowering our customers to create smarter and more power-efficient innovative products,” said Mark Chen, Vice President of Smart Sensing Business at Himax.
