A major player in Mining sector, Anson Resources Ltd has received final approval from the State of Utah for its application to use water for lithium extraction at the Green River Lithium Project. This crucial step, granted by the Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water Rights, paves the way for the company's planned operations in the region.

Approval Process and Details

The approval process for water use began with an application filed in July 2023 by Anson’s wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary, Blackstone Minerals NV LLC. Following initial approval by the state engineer in May 2024, Anson was informed of a reconsideration request by the state engineer regarding the extraction rights. This reconsideration process has now been completed, with the extraction rights officially granted.

Under the approved permit, Anson Resources Ltd (OTC:ANFNS) is authorized to extract 19 cubic feet per second (approximately 0.54 cubic meters per second) of brine for the lithium extraction process. After extraction, the brine will be returned to its original geological formation, ensuring that the use of water remains non-consumptive.

Technical and Environmental Considerations

The Utah Division of Water Rights reviewed the project and concluded that the brine's return to its source aligns with non-consumptive water use practices. Additionally, Anson Resources submitted a detailed underground injection control (UIC) technical report for a “UIC Class 5 Spent Brine Return” Well, which was approved by the Utah Division of Water Quality last month.

Project Development

The four extraction wells planned by Anson Resources will be situated on private land acquired by the company in the previous year. These wells will be located in close proximity to the proposed lithium extraction plant, facilitating efficient operations.

The final approval for water use marks a significant milestone for Anson Resources and its Green River Lithium Project. This development is a critical component in advancing the company's lithium extraction operations and underscores its commitment to adhering to regulatory requirements and environmental standards.
