Andrada Mining Ltd, a company within the metal & mining sector, announced that its inaugural drilling program at the historical Brandberg West project has intersected significant metal in all holes drilled. This program is conducted under the EPL5445 exploration license in the Erongo region of Namibia, about 100 kilometers from Andrada's flagship Uis Tin Mine.
The exploration initiative aims to evaluate the potential of Brandberg West, a site previously operated by Gold Fields as an open-pit mine until the 1980s. The mine was closed when tin prices declined sharply during that period. The current exploration by Andrada Mining Ltd (OTC: AFTTF) seeks to tap into the site's tin, tungsten, and copper resources, which have shown promising indications.
Drilling Results Indicate Presence of Tin, Tungsten, and Copper
The company's first results from ten samples taken from the twenty drill holes show the presence of tin, tungsten, and copper, with notable grades. The highest recorded grades include 4.47% tin, 2.65% tungsten, and 3.85% copper. These results are significant as they confirm the presence of critical metals within the project area, enhancing the commercial value of the exploration license.
Anthony Viljoen, the Chief Executive Officer of Andrada Mining, commented on the results, describing them as indicative of high-grade intersections of tin, tungsten, and copper. He emphasized that the grades observed, particularly for tin and tungsten, underscore the project's potential to contribute valuable critical metals to Andrada's portfolio. The addition of tungsten and copper from Brandberg West expands the company's asset base beyond its existing tin resources.
Strategic Importance of the Brandberg West Project
The Brandberg West project holds strategic importance for Andrada Mining, as it not only broadens the company's critical metals portfolio but also reinforces its position in the mining sector. The project’s location near the Uis Tin Mine allows Andrada to leverage existing regional infrastructure and expertise. The findings from the drilling program could play a crucial role in determining the feasibility of further development at the site.
Andrada's exploration at Brandberg West is part of a broader strategy to explore and develop critical metal assets in Namibia, a country known for its rich mineral resources. The company continues to assess the potential of its exploration licenses, focusing on tin, lithium, and now, with the latest results, tungsten and copper. This aligns with Andrada’s vision of building a diversified critical metals portfolio.
Future Exploration Plans
Looking ahead, Andrada plans to continue its exploration efforts at Brandberg West, with further sampling and analysis expected to provide additional insights into the resource potential. While the initial results are encouraging, detailed evaluations will be necessary to fully understand the extent and economic viability of the deposits. The company is committed to advancing its exploration projects responsibly and sustainably, considering both technical feasibility and environmental impacts.
