Rohit Dhawan Takes the Helm of AI Centre of Excellence
Dhawan, who will report to Ranil Boteju, the Chief Data and Analytics Officer, is set to lead the newly established AI Centre of Excellence at Lloyds. This role is crucial in steering the group’s AI, machine learning (ML), and advanced analytics strategy. The Centre aims to unify experts in data science, behavioral science, ML engineering, and AI ethics, to foster innovation and drive technical excellence. He joined Lloyds from Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he served as Head of Data and AI Strategy for Asia-Pacific. He earned his PhD in artificial intelligence from the University of Sydney, bringing a wealth of experience to his new role.

Lloyds Banking Group has been actively increasing its use of digital technologies and data to better support its customers. The bank has recruited 1,500 specialists this year to bolster its technological capabilities.
