For some time now, most crypto enthusiasts were looking for the real Satoshi Nakamoto. The secrecy over the identity of the Bitcoin creator has been a story in itself as various names have been tossed up in the past with many individuals claiming that they were the real Nakamoto who invented the leading cryptocurrency.
Another mysterious name, Nick Szabo, has resurfaced, who Elon Musk feels is the real Satoshi Nakamoto that the world is looking for.
The Tesla chief, in a podcast, suggested that even though he can’t put a finger on the owner but hinted that Szabo could well be the real ‘Bitcoin creator’. Musk told host Lex Fridman that even though Szabo denies the possibility of him being Satoshi Nakamoto, but Szabo could be the one responsible for thesis behind bitcoin than anyone else.

Bitcoin was first proposed by mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto, a pseudonym, in in October 2008. Fridman seem to agree with Musk stating that the Tesla chief’s rationale behind Szabo theory. Fridman was surprised by the uncanny similarity between Szabo’s writing and the bitcoin whitepaper writing.
Who is Nick Szabo?
Szabo is a computer engineer who is often credited for the development of Bit Gold. Developed in 1998, the Bit Gold is considered to be the base on which the Bitcoin is based on. Not just Bitcoin, but Szabo’s theory of "smart contracts" is often considered to be the foundations of the Ethereum blockchain.

The concept of Bit Gold is said to be similar to BTC due to its descriptions of time-stamped blocks stored on a blockchain and generated using a Proof-of-Work model. Besides, considering that it came well before the concept paper on Bitcoin was developed has led many to believe in Musk’s theory.
In fact, a New York Times article in 2015 also hinted that Szabo is the real Nakamoto. The Hungarian though has continuously denied that he is not the real Bitcoin creator.
Conclusion
Whether Szabo is the real Satoshi Nakamoto or not is yet to be ascertained, but it certainly has refueled the debate where is the real creator of bitcoin and why he is in hiding. For years, the crypto world is asking the same question, ‘Will the real Satoshi Nakamoto come in public eye’.
