US Markets: Broader indices in the United States traded in green - particularly, the S&P 500 index traded 24.26 points or 0.79 per cent higher at 3,077.50, Dow Jones Industrial Average Index accelerated by 21.04 points or 0.08 per cent higher at 25,616.84, and the technology benchmark index Nasdaq Composite traded higher at 9,989.64, up by 115.48 points or 1.17 per cent against its previous day close (at the time of writing, before the U.S market close at 11:55 AM ET).
US News: The Wall Street major indices opened mixed as the US Federal Chairman Jerome Powell sets to testify on the economic outlook and monetary policy actions in front of the Joint Economic Committee. The stocks which gained the market share were, Lululemon Athletica whose shares surged by about 5.5% is set to buy Mirror, a fitness start-up, for USD 500 million. The shares of Uber were up by close to 3.9% after the ride-hailing company announced to acquire Postmates, a meal delivery service company, for approximately USD 2.6 billion. Netflix shares were up by close to 0.9% after the company pledged to spend USD 100 million to support the African American community. The stocks which lost ground were Boeing whose shares plunged by close to 6.6% after the Norwegian Airlines cancelled the order for 97 airplanes. Wells Fargo shares were down by about 0.5% after the bank announced it would cut the dividend in the third quarter.

Top Performers*: Xilinx Inc (XLNX), Micron Technology Inc (MU), and Lam Research Corp (LRCX) stocks jumped by 7.58 per cent, 6.18 per cent and 5.21 per cent, respectively.
Non Performers*: Boeing Co (BA), Coty Inc (COTY) and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) shares decreased by 6.98 per cent, 4.85 per cent and 4.71 per cent, respectively.
NASDAQ Composite (IXIC)
Top Performers*: Polar Power Inc (POLA), Alterity Therapeutics Ltd (ATHE) and Carver Bancorp Inc (CARV) shares expanded by 118.98 per cent, 102.56 per cent and 74.11 per cent, respectively.
Worst Performers*: Zynerba Pharmaceuticals Inc (ZYNE), Verrica Pharmaceuticals Inc (VRCA) and Landec Corp Inc (LNDC) shares plunged by 50.76 per cent, 23.88 per cent and 19.39 per cent, respectively.

European Markets: The London’s broader equity benchmark index FTSE 100 traded at 56.03 points or 0.90 per cent lower at 6,169.74, the FTSE 250 index snapped at 79.50 points or 0.46 per cent lower at 17,119.16, and the FTSE All-Share Index ended 28.00 points or 0.81 per cent lower at 3,410.93, respectively. Another European index STOXX 600 ended up by 0.45 points or 0.13 per cent, at 360.34. Among other major European indices, DAX index closed the session at 12,310.93, up by 78.81 points or 0.64 per cent; CAC 40 index decreased by 9.47 points or 0.19 per cent and ended the trading session at 4,935.99.
European News: London and European markets retreated today since the apprehension regarding another round of lockdown overweighed the optimism of swift economic revival. Meanwhile, as per the Office for National Statistics, the UK economy shrank massively as GDP plunged 2.2 per cent in the quarter between January and March 2020. Among the gaining stocks, Standard Life Aberdeen rose over 3.3 per cent on appointing Stephen Bird as a new Chief Executive (when Keith Skeoch leaves). Cineworld Group surged over 6.2 per cent after saying that it will reopen cinema in the US and the UK on 31st July 2020. Smiths Group jumped over 6.8 per cent after posting revenue growth in the latest trading update. On the flip side, Redrow (homebuilder) tumbled close to 5.6 per cent after anticipating a massive decline in turnover this year. Royal Dutch Shell dipped over 4.5 per cent as it plans to write between USD 15bn to USD 22bn in the second quarter.

Worst Performers*: PETROPAVLOVSK PLC (POG), DWF GROUP PLC (DWF) and GO-AHEAD GROUP PLC (GOG) plunged by 14.84 per cent, 10.73 per cent and 7.98 per cent, respectively.
