Gold & Crude Oil Prices Edged Higher; London Equities Traded Flat

US Markets: : Broader indices in the United States traded in green - particularly, the S&P 500 index traded 28.90 points or 0.69 per cent higher at 4,221.75, Dow Jones Industrial Average Index surged by 98.08 points or 0.28 per cent higher at 34,675.12, and the technology benchmark index Nasdaq Composite traded higher at 13,803.90, up by 189.39 points or 1.39 per cent against the previous day close (at the time of writing - 11:50 AM ET).

US Market News: The major indices of Wall Street traded in a green zone after U.S. nonfarm payrolls data showed hiring increased in May 2021. Among the gaining stocks, DocuSign (DOCU) shares surged by about 15.15% after the Company came out with quarterly earnings of 44 cents per share. MongoDB (MDB) shares went up by about 9.08% after the Company’s top-line business, and bottom-line business came out to be better than the estimates for the latest quarter. Asana (ASAN) shares went up by about 6.41% after the revenue and outlook beat consensus estimates. Five Below (FIVE) shares jumped by around 4.64% after the comparable store sales surged around 162% for the first quarter.

UK Market News: The London markets traded in a green zone after the release of the UK construction data and US non-farm payrolls report. Moreover, the IHS/Markit Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the construction industry had jumped to 64.2 in May 2021 against 61.6 in April 2021.

AstraZeneca shares rose by about 1.28% after the Company had announced the appointment of Aradhana Sarin as the new chief financial officer.

Packaging Group Smurfit Kappa Group had acquired Peru-based packaging company Cartones Del Pacifico for an undisclosed amount. Moreover, the shares dropped by around 0.93%.

ContourGlobal shares went up by around 1.30% after the Company had collaborated with Energy Infrastructure Partners to purchase Green Hunter group for 49.7 million euros.

British Airways owner MyHealthChecked had widened the net loss from negative £2.15 million during FY19 to negative £3.76 million for FY20. Furthermore, the shares went down by around 2.38%.
