S&P 500 future was down by 2 points or 0.04% at 4,690, while the Dow Jones 30 futures was up by 0.21% or 78 points at 36,370. The technology-heavy index Nasdaq Composite future was down by 0.48% at 15,689 (At the time of writing – 8:55 AM ET).
US Market News: Shares of the pharmacy chain operator Walgreens Boots Alliance rose by nearly 4% in premarket trading after the company reported better first-quarter earnings and revenues. Shares of the home goods retailer Bed Bath & Beyond were trading in the green in the premarket after yesterday’s fall following the announcement of its third-quarter results.
UK Market News: The UK stock market traded in negative territory towards the end of the session. The benchmark FTSE100 index was below the 7,500 level, down by 0.50% at 7,479. The mid-cap focused FTSE250 index was down by 1.16% at 23,494. The December IHS Markit/CIPS services PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) slumped to its lowest level in 10-month at 53.6 in from 58.5 recorded in the previous month.
Angus Energy Plc (LON:ANGS): Shares of the investment holding company that distributes hydrocarbon was up by over 35%, with a day’s high of GBX 1.08 after the company’s board announced that it would undertake a strategic review for a potential sale of the company to maximise value for the existing shareholders.
Dr Martens Plc (LON: DOCS): Shares of the footwear company was down by over 11%, with a day’s low of GBX 366.60 after the company successfully raised gross sales proceeds of £257 million through a secondary placing of 65 million ordinary shares at a price of 395p per share.
Greggs Plc (LON: GRG): Shares of the bakery store operator were down by over 3.9%, with a day’s low of GBX 3,235 after the company announced the appointment of a new chief executive. Roisin Currie will be the new chief executive of the company.
