September 22, 2020 10:10 PM AEST | By Team Kalkine Media

Boris Johnson has announced a new package of stricter measures in its bid to contain the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases. The raft of new measures could last for up to six months.

  • Government has extended the rule of masks and made the “rule of six” stricter. Breaking laws on gatherings and not wearing a mask will now attract an increased fine of £200 for a first offence.
  • There weren’t further harsh measures announced by the government as far as businesses are concerned, as the PM said that he wanted to balance tighter restrictions on life with keeping as many businesses as possible open.
  • Though the business will have to be compliant with guidance on how to be “COVID secure”. From 24 September 2020 all pubs, bars and restaurants will be restricted to table service only, and all the hospitality venues will have to close by 10 PM sharp.
