Pimlico Plumbers said it would soon introduce job contracts where it will include “no jab, no job” policy.
- Charlie Mullins, Pimlico’s founder, said the company is drafting new contracts with its lawyers where vaccination will be a crucial clause for its 400-strong workforce.
- He added that for serving in the African countries, they are bound to take malaria vaccine, and they do it without thinking over it. He even said that almost all the employees (99 per cent) whom they have talked to are willing to take a jab.
- He, however, also clarified that it’s not mandatory for the existing workers and they won’t be sacked, but once the vaccine is in wider circulation, all the new workers would be required to take a jab before joining the company.
- Other companies have also backed vaccines but have not made it mandatory. The firm’s lawyers, along with its HR team are presently busy finalising the contract.
- Employment lawyers feel such attempts could lead to claims of discrimination or constructive dismissal among workers. They have put a point that employees are at liberty to refuse the proposal of the mandatory jab and it’s the contractual requirement, which needs to be agreed by staff.
