A recent survey of the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has found that one in seven companies in the UK fear the risk of collapse in the next three months.

  • The bulletin released by the ONS found that 7 per cent of businesses, across all industries, expect to close a business site temporarily or permanently in the next two weeks.
  • The survey results pointed to the grim situation of the hospitality industry as accommodation and food service activities had the lowest percentage of businesses currently trading, at 63 per cent.
  • However, there were some positives as well; the percentage of businesses currently trading had steadily increased from 66 per cent from Wave 7 survey to 86 per cent in Wave 14 survey results.
