EasyJet reports first-ever annual loss in its 25-year operating history

EasyJet Plc (LON:EZJ) has reported the first annual loss in its 25-year history due to the severe impact of Covid-19 on the travel industry.

  • The passenger numbers for the year ending 30 September decreased by 50 per cent to 48.1 million.
  • The positive thing was that due to the company’s prudent approach to capacity, load factor declined only by 4.3 percentage points to 87.2 per cent.
  • The airline, which expects to fly no more than 20 per cent of planned capacity for Q1 2021, has said that bookings had been boosted by positive news on Covid-19 vaccines.
  • On 17 November 2020, the stocks of the company declined by 3.36% from its previous closing, hovering at around GBX 736.20 at 09:26 AM GMT+1.
