Highlights

  • Bitcoin (BTC) remains steady around $102K despite market uncertainty.
  • Altcoins, including Ether (ETH) and XRP, follow Bitcoin's downward trend.
  • $TRUMP memecoin faces significant volatility, down by 8%.

Bitcoin (BTC) held steady at approximately $102,000 on January 29, 2025, following a slight dip earlier in the day. The market remained fragile amid rising uncertainty, as attention shifted to the conclusion of the Federal Reserve’s meeting. Traders were also on edge after the White House reaffirmed President Donald Trump’s plans to impose trade tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico. Additionally, concerns over the launch of DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence model, had battered global financial markets, intensifying risk aversion. While immediate concerns over the AI model had cooled, market sentiment remained volatile, and Wall Street futures retreated during Asian trade on Wednesday, contributing to the cautious mood.

The broader cryptocurrency market mirrored Bitcoin’s decline, with major altcoins like Ether (ETH) and XRP also experiencing losses. Ether fell by 2.7% to $3,127.70, while XRP steadied at $3.1123, showing limited movement. Meanwhile, the $TRUMP memecoin, launched earlier this month by U.S. President Donald Trump, resumed its downward trajectory, sinking by 8% to $27.592. This marked a continuation of its volatility, as it had already wiped out about 60% of its value since reaching a post-launch high. The memecoin has contributed to significant fluctuations in the crypto market, adding further unpredictability.

Other altcoins, including Cardano, Solana, and Polygon, also faced declines, dropping between 1.6% and 5%. Dogecoin, which had previously surged in popularity, shed 2.8%, following the overall bearish trend in the market. Despite these drops, many cryptocurrencies were still trading above their lows from earlier in the week, indicating some support from bargain buying in the aftermath of recent market routs.

The ongoing uncertainty surrounding both traditional and digital markets suggests that traders remain cautious, awaiting clearer direction from key events like the Federal Reserve's policy meeting. The market’s response to these developments, combined with geopolitical factors such as trade tensions and AI-related concerns, will likely influence Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency prices in the short term.
