NZ government opens a new housing complex

The government has opened a new public housing complex in Onehunga. The 71-apartment complex has replaced 34 terrace houses with warm, dry, and healthy apartments.

Housing Minister Megan Woods said, fixing the housing shortage problem is government's key priority, and the programme is well on track to provide 18,350 public and transitional housing places by the end of 2024.

The most significant public housing programme in decades will not only offer a warm, secure, and dry homes to kiwis but will also stimulate the residential construction sector and create jobs.
