Minister of Customs, Jenny Salesa said that the government is freezing custom charges at the border. It will help import and export businesses and protect jobs from COVID-19 impacts.
By freezing the fee increase:
- 70,000 importers will get a benefit of NZD 3.77 per import entry.
- There will be no additional charges on six million low-value exports and eleven million low-volume imports.
- Kiwi, import and export businesses, will save NZD 5 million.
Government is focused on helping businesses come out of Covid 19 impact soon, added Mr Jenny Salesa.
