A man thought murdered because of his links to the Adelaide drug trade was likely held in a container for weeks before his death, police have revealed.

As they continue to investigate the disappearance of Jeff Mundy, police on Friday swooped on a property at suburban Londsdale where they believe he was held against his will.

It was thought he escaped at some stage but was recaptured and killed about two weeks later.

Detective Inspector Brett Featherby said the site was known to be frequented by low-level drug dealers.

"We believe a number of people have been involved in Jeff's murder and also the disposal of his body," he said.

"The people that were involved in his murder may not necessarily have been involved in the disposal of his body. There may be separate or multiple suspects involved in those roles."

Mr Mundy, 36, was last seen in December 2020. His body has not been found, with police suspecting it was disposed of somewhere on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula.

His death is one of three thought linked to the Adelaide drug scene, along with those of Robert Atkins and Trevor King.

Mr Atkins, 29, went missing in November 2020 and is thought to have been killed, with his body disposed of somewhere near Orroroo, 275km north of Adelaide.

Mr King, 41, was found dead at suburban West Lakes in January 2020 with police now believing his death was staged to look like a suicide.

Earlier this year police set up task force Southern to investigate the three cases and Insp Featherby said its work was progressing well.

So far 62 premises have been searched with 19 men and eight women arrested on charges ranging from serious assault and blackmail to money laundering, theft and witness intimidation.

Police have also seized 500 electronic devices that are currently being analysed, and in the case of Mr Atkins, recently recovered nine firearms buried on a property at Booborowie, about 200km north of Adelaide.

A 60-year-old man is currently in custody in relation to those weapons and forensic checks on the guns are continuing.
