It's been 15 years in the making, but Adelaide United can finally say they have made a hot start to an A-League Women's season.

The unbeaten Reds are equal top of the ladder after following an upset 1-0 win over Sydney with a 1-0 triumph over Perth Glory at Macedonia Park on Sunday.

It marks the first time that Adelaide - one of the founding teams of the W-League - have started a women's season with two wins on the trot.

Last season, Adelaide reached the finals for the first time, and coach Adrian Stenta wants to keep breaking through new frontiers.

"This side that I coach, they continue to keep making history," a proud Stenta said after the win over Perth.

"I don't think an Adelaide United side has ever won their first two games to start a season. It's been around for 15 years, so that's not good enough as a club.

"I'm glad we've been able to do that now, and I look forward to creating more history and breaking more records with this team, because they work so hard and they're brilliant to coach."

When asked what history he had in mind, Stenta replied: "I wouldn't mind some silverware, that would be nice."

"I think these guys are capable of it," he added.

"I'm not setting any limits on this team."

Coincidentally, the team Adelaide will host on Sunday - newcomers Western United - have taken just two weeks to achieve what the Reds needed 15 years to do.

Western United are in hot form after starting life in the ALW with two straight wins, and Stenta can't wait for the top-of-the-table clash.

A 19th-minute strike from Dylan Holmes proved enough against Glory on Sunday, but Adelaide were forced to withstand a fierce second-half fightback to secure all three points.

Adelaide goalkeeper Annalee Grove was superb with a series of clutch saves, leaving Glory with just a solitary point from the opening two rounds.

Perth will be aiming to snare their first win of the season when they take on the Newcastle Jets in Newcastle on Saturday.
