Minister Andrews said the initiative gives an opportunity to small businesses for the development of innovative solutions which would benefit the community and economy. Government agencies may purchase the solutions developed by the participants to address national challenges.

This round of BRII saw significant traction from the small business community with a record 220 applications.

Initial grants of more than $2 million will be distributed to twenty-three small businesses participating in this round for the feasibility tests. The five challenges under this round are as below.

Australian small businesses with a turnover of less than $20 million in the last three years are eligible under the initiative.
