While Bitcoin enjoyed the highest market capitalisation (m-cap) in the cryptocurrency world, it was not the most viewed digital currency of 2021. The top position on the list has been bagged by Shiba Inu (SHIB), a cryptocurrency inspired by a dog meme and posed as ‘Dogecoin killer’, according to CoinMarketCap.

With an m-cap of more than US$20 billion, Shiba Inu was the thirteenth largest cryptocurrency in terms of valuation this year, according to a “2021 Wrap Up” post that CoinMarketCap tweeted. While Shiba Inu had over 188 million views, Bitcoin stood second with 145 million views in 2021.

Dogecoin was in third position among the most viewed cryptocurrencies with 107 million views. Cardano had nearly 86 million views, and Ethereum gained 81 million views.

Meanwhile, in October 2021, Shiba Inu rose by over 216% within a week and hit a new high of  US$0.000088. Shiba Inu token was last trading for AU$0.00003823.

Dogecoin was in third position among the most viewed cryptocurrencies.

According to CoinMarketCap, Shiba Inu is held by 1,090,840 wallet addresses. The active addresses stand at 14,645. The coin has been listed on 447 exchanges worldwide.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin extended losses and further extended its fall in December. The crypto fell over 7% in overnight trade to US$47,321, below its 200-day moving average. Smaller tokens such as Solana, Cardano, Polkadot and meme token, Dogecoin, also lost in overnight trade.
