3 Dividend-Paying Canadian Penny Stocks To Invest In 2021

Canadian investors often seek out dividend-paying stocks in the hopes of steady payments. At the same time, some shareholders also go down the route of penny or micro-cap stocks for their smaller prices. These two preference come together in the case of a few Canadian companies, such as Newport Exploration Ltd (TSXV:NWX), Hampton Financial Corporation (TSXV:HFC) and Input Capital Corp (TSXV:INP).

Penny stocks can at times be considered risky investments, which is why investors should delve into proper research before parking their funds. As they do, here are a few details about the above mentioned Canadian dividend-paying penny stocks.

 

Newport Exploration Ltd (TSXV:NWX)

Newport Exploration, headquartered in Vancouver, delves in the business of exploring and acquiring resource properties. Founded in 1979, the exploration stage company has projects in Canada as well as Australia.

Newport announced its first quarterly dividend of 2021 last week (February 10). The cash dividend of C$ 0.01 per share currently holds an yield of 6.897 per cent (as per TMX data) and will be payable on March 12.

The C$ 61.2-million market cap company saw its stocks jump by almost 12 per cent in February and by over 18 per cent year-to-date (YTD). Newport stocks surged by about 45 per cent in the span of last one year and by nearly 55 per cent in the last six months.

On the financial front, Newport Exploration posted a net income (before taxes) of C$ 2.23 million in the first quarter of 2021, which ended in 31 October 2021.

Hampton Financial Corporation (TSXV:HFC)

Current Stock Price: C$ 0.175


Capital market company Hampton Financial, which focuses on providing wealth management and investment-related services, was founded in 2014. It currently holds a market cap of C$ 2.78 million, as per TMX data.

Like Newport Exploration, Hampton Financial too declared is latest cash dividend last week (February 11). The quarterly dividend of C$ 0.2 per share is set to be payable on March 1, the company said.

Hampton Financial stocks are up about 25 per cent this year, with a price-to-cashflow (P/CF) ratio of 5.7 and a return on equity (ROE) of 128.97 per cent.

 

Input Capital Corp (TSXV:INP)

Input Capital Corp, headquartered in Regina, Saskatchewan, describes itself as an agriculture commodity streaming company which particularly focuses on the crop of canola. Founded in 2022, the company offers streaming contracts to crop-growers.

The C$ 50.4-million market cap company announced a cash dividend of C$ 0.01 per share for the quarter ending 31 December 2020, which was set to be distributed on 15 January 2021. It currently reflects a dividend yield of 4.211 per cent, as per TMX data.

Input Capital stocks rose by almost seven per cent in February to date and by over 10 per cent this year. In the last one year, Input stock has expanded by about 34 per cent.

Input Capital recorded an adjusted crop revenue of C$ 24.03 million on the delivery of 54,597 canola equivalent metric tonnes in the fiscal year ending 30 September 2020. Its cash and cash equivalents for the fiscal year of 2020 amounted to C$ 27.23 million, while its total crop interests and other financial assets stood at C$ 14.47 million.
