Dragged by technology stocks, the S&P/TSX Composite index declined 58.48 points or 0.35% to 16,731.49 on Thursday. The technology index ended 1.18% lower. The most actively traded stocks were Air Canada (up 4.18% to CAD 17.19), Baytex Energy Corp. (up 2.94% to CAD 0.70), Manulife Financial Corporation (up 0.20% to CAD 20.01), and Suncor Energy Inc. (up 0.79% to CAD 21.59).
The S&P/TSX Composite Venture Index added 2.09 points or 0.28% to close at 731.96.

On Wall Street: After eight consecutive days of rise, the Nasdaq Composite ended 45.78 points or 0.38% lower at 11,625.34. The S&P 500 index touched a new all-time high of 3,501.38 during intraday trading, ending slightly lower at 3,484.5. The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index traded in the green zone and bagged 160.35 points or 0.57% to 28,492.27.
TSX Top Movers: Horizonte Minerals Plc. (up 14.29% to CAD 0.12), Brompton Lifeco Split Corp. (up 12.78% to CAD 3), and Century Global Commodities Corporation (up 12.0% to CAD 0.014).
TSX Bottom Movers: FAX Capital Corp. (down 26.67% to CAD 0.11), Wilmington Capital Management Inc. (down 23.33% to CAD 0.89), and General Moly Inc. (down 19.05% to CAD 0.17)
Commodity Cues: Gold Futures ended 1.02% lower at US$ 1,932.60/oz. International crude oil benchmark Brent Oil traded lower for the second consecutive day and ended 1.21% lower at US$ 45.09/bbl, while Crude WTI – American Crude Oil benchmark declined 0.81% to US$ 43.04/bbl, respectively.
The Dollar Index, which measures the value of US Dollar against the basket of major currencies, extended losses for the second consecutive days and down 0.03% to 93.03.
The Canadian Dollar was up by 0.12% against U.S Dollar to 0.76.
