 S&P/TSX Ends In Green After Two Consecutive Days of Decline

ON TSX: S&P/TSX Composite Index, the broader equity gauge of the Toronto Stock Exchange, settled in green on Monday after two consecutive days of decline. The index bagged 141.51 points or 0.85% to touch 16,656.12. Sharp recovery in basic material and technology stocks helped the index soar. On TSX Venture Exchange, the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index climbed 13.22 points or 1.79% to 750.87. Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 636 to 418 and 112 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Canadian Pacific Railway Limited, The Bitcoin Fund, Sprott Inc. and West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. are among the stocks with posted a new 52-week high price, the shares up by 1.18%, 18.35%, 5.19% and 2.49%, respectively. On the other side, stocks of MediPharm Labs Corp touched a new 52-week low, down by 9.18%.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

On Wall Street: Equity benchmark indices of the Wall Street traded in the mix with Dow Jones Industrials sliding by 86.11 points or 0.31% lower at 27,844.91 and the S&P 500 Index adding 9.14 points or 0.27% to reach 3,381.99. The NASDAQ bagged 110.42 points or 1.0% at 11,129.73 and tested a new all-time high of 11,144.53 during the trading hours.

Top Movers: Barrick Gold Mining (up 4.05 cents or 11.32% to CAD 39.84), Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. (up 4.13 cents or 6.25% to CAD 70.26), and Kinross Gold Corp (up 0.7 cents or 6.05% to CAD 12.27) respectively.

Bottom Movers: Canopy Growth Corp (down 0.44 cents or 1.98% to CAD 22.38), Power Corporation of Canada (down 0.38 cents or 1.46% to CAD 25.73) and Sun Life Financial Inc (down 0.75 cents or 1.32% to CAD 55.96).

Volume Leader: Enbridge Inc., D-Box Technologies Inc. Class A, StageZero Life Sciences Ltd., and Barrick Gold Corporation

Gold*: Gold futures gained 2.88% against the previous close to US$1,998.70/oz.

Crude Oil*: WTI crude futures gained 1.39% to US$42.89/bbl and Brent Oil Futures up 0.71% to US$ 45.33/bbl.

Forex*: Dollar Index traded 0.21% lower at 92.82.
