Canadian equity benchmark index S&P/TSX Composite extended gains for the third consecutive day, closing at 16,431.27, up 71.13 points or 0.43%. The index traded above its crucial short-term as well as long-term support levels of 50-day and 200-day Simple Moving Averages (SMAs). However, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) is hovering below the nine-day SMA signal line. The difference between 12-day exponential moving average (EMA) and 26-day EMA is negative.
The S&P/TSX 60 index traded 3.50 points or 0.36% higher at 983.6 and the TSX Venture Index traded 0.18 points or 0.02% to 741.91.

Brent Crude Oil jumped 2.32% to US$ 40.53/bbl and WTI Crude Oil traded 2.74% higher at US$ 39.13/bbl.
