The employees, who receive government wage subsidies, could face a pay cut of up to 53 per cent starting September 27, the airlines informed.
This comes in the light of the Canadian government’s decision to revamp the federal wage subsidy.
In a recent company memo, WestJet said that its furloughed employees who rely on the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) may see their maximum weekly payment decrease from C$ 847 to $400.
