Unifor, Canada’s general trade union, has announced Ford Motors and Co as the Detroit Three automaker to set up the pattern agreement for bargaining in 2020.
Unifor National President Jerry Dias made the announcement on Facebook Live, broadcasted from Toronto’s Sheraton Centre.
Dias said that the union picked Ford because it felt that workers at the company’s Oakville Assembly Complex were the most vulnerable group.
Unifor’s contract with the Detroit Three – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford Motor Company and General Motors — expires on September 21.
