Highlights

  • Nanoveu completes comprehensive AI testing on ECS-DOT chipset.
  • ECS-DOT chipset leads in energy-efficient AI applications for anomaly detection and keyword spotting.
  • Acquisition of EMASS enables integration with Nanoveu’s EyeFly3D platform.

Nanoveu (ASX:NVU) has completed rigorous, industry-standard benchmark testing of the ECS-DOT chipset, developed by semiconductor specialist Embedded AI Systems (EMASS). The testing spanned key areas such as anomaly detection and keyword spotting, demonstrating the chipset's capabilities in computationally intensive yet energy-efficient tasks. The ECS-DOT chipset’s strong performance highlights its potential in advanced applications like 2D-to-3D data conversion through eye tracking, which is crucial for delivering adaptive and responsive user interactions.

The ECS-DOT chipset's performance outpaced established industry names like Qualcomm and Himax, positioning Nanoveu as a leader in the ultra-low-power embedded artificial intelligence (AI) space. This chipset is designed for applications that require minimal power without sacrificing performance, making it an ideal choice for embedded AI across various sectors.

Anomaly Detection Capabilities

Anomaly detection involves identifying unusual data patterns or behaviors, which is essential in fields requiring high levels of accuracy and reliability, such as security and system integrity. This functionality enhances AI system responsiveness and reliability, adding significant value in complex environments.

In benchmark tests, the ECS-DOT chipset achieved an execution time of 1.22 milliseconds with energy consumption at just 0.8 microjoules per inference. This efficiency represents up to a 287-fold improvement over other prominent semiconductor players, including STMicroelectronics, in publicly reported results. Such performance levels reinforce Nanoveu’s position as an industry frontrunner in energy-efficient AI applications.

Keyword Spotting Precision

Keyword spotting, a core element in interactive language models, allows devices to activate upon hearing specific speech triggers. This feature enhances energy conservation by enabling systems to remain idle when not actively needed, thereby reducing background energy consumption.

In testing, the ECS-DOT chipset achieved an impressive 3.9 milliseconds in execution time with energy consumption as low as 3.07 microjoules per inference. This performance offers up to ten times the energy efficiency seen in similar tests with Syntiant’s Core chips, indicating the ECS-DOT’s optimized power usage and high responsiveness in language-based applications.

Vision for Innovation and EMASS Acquisition

According to EMASS founder Mohamed M Sabry Aly, the testing results emphasize the company’s commitment to innovation in low-power AI solutions. Aly highlighted the ECS-DOT chipset’s energy-efficient performance as a game-changer for embedded AI applications.

Nanoveu recently secured an agreement to acquire EMASS for $5 million in shares, along with 83.3 million performance rights. This acquisition will allow Nanoveu to integrate EMASS’s SoC technology with its own proprietary EyeFly3D platform. EyeFly3D combines software and film to turn standard 2D images into immersive 3D content, viewable on digital displays without specialized glasses, offering new possibilities in interactive digital media.
