Highlights
- Surefire Resources (SRN) advances Yidby Gold Project drilling
- 15 drill holes completed covering over 1,900 metres
- Significant sulphide intersection indicates gold mineralisation potential
Surefire Resources (ASX:SRN) has reported encouraging developments in its drilling campaign at the Yidby Gold Project, located in Western Australia. The latest exploration efforts have delivered promising geological insights that point to the project's strong mineral potential.
Ongoing Drilling Program Yields Encouraging Signs
The company has completed 15 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes at its wholly owned Yidby Gold Project, with a total depth of 1,909 metres drilled. This drilling initiative is part of Surefire’s broader strategy to delineate mineralised zones and assess the scale of potential gold-bearing structures across the site.
Among the early findings, a particularly notable intersection stands out—a 65-metre span containing visible disseminated sulphides. These sulphides, primarily pyrite and chalcopyrite, have been estimated at concentrations between 5–10%, indicating a highly prospective target zone for further gold mineralisation.
Geology and Mineralisation Prospects
The rock types intersected during drilling have been described as promising by the company’s technical team. The presence of visible mineralisation, especially sulphide-rich zones, enhances the project's potential and strengthens the case for further investigation. The geological setting and sulphide content are consistent with the types of mineralisation that have previously delivered economic gold discoveries in similar greenstone belt terrains across Western Australia.
Awaiting Assay Results
While visual observations offer initial confidence, the company is now awaiting laboratory assay results that will provide a definitive understanding of the gold content within the intersected zones. These results will help refine the next steps in exploration and guide future drilling targets across the tenement.
Exploration Strategy Moving Forward
Surefire Resources is positioning the Yidby Gold Project as a potentially significant contributor to its resource portfolio. With the groundwork laid through this phase of drilling, the company is steadily building the geological model necessary for further development and potential resource definition. More updates, including assay outcomes and geological interpretations, are expected in due course.
Surefire’s continued progress at Yidby highlights the importance of methodical exploration and the value of visible mineral indicators in early-stage resource assessments. As the company continues its journey, the drilling results may serve as a key foundation for future advancement in Western Australia’s prolific gold-producing regions.
