- Dateline kicks off soil sampling and MT survey at Colosseum
- Plans underway for maiden REE-focused drill campaign
- Updated project economics highlight $852M NPV at gold price of US$2,900/oz
Dateline Resources (ASX:DTR) is ramping up exploration efforts at its Colosseum gold and rare earth element (REE) project in California, launching an extensive new field program this month. This move follows encouraging results from prior fieldwork and detailed reviews, which have deepened the company’s geological understanding of the project.
Located in east San Bernardino County, Colosseum already boasts a solid mineral resource estimate of 27.1 million tonnes at 1.26 grams per tonne of gold, equating to 1.1 million ounces. The company recently released updated project economics, revealing a net present value of approximately US$852 million and a robust internal rate of return of 61%, using a gold price benchmark of US$2,900/oz.
The upcoming field campaign will start with a large-scale soil sampling initiative across the broader project area, anticipated to take around four weeks. This phase will involve the collection of soil samples from systematic grids across high-potential zones. Each sample will undergo multi-element analysis, including the complete REE suite, to identify geochemical anomalies and critical pathfinder elements.
Dateline’s strategy integrates these geochemical results into advanced mapping systems to spotlight the most promising zones for REE and gold potential. Complementing this, the company will conduct a magnetotelluric (MT) survey across the project site. This technique allows for deep subsurface imaging by capturing density, conductivity, and geochemistry data — three critical datasets that Dateline will use to refine its drilling model.
The goal is clear: prioritise and test the most compelling targets through a maiden drilling program. Plans are also in place to test potential extensions of the known breccia pipes and newly identified breccia bodies, with attention to both gold and REE prospects.
As resource investors increasingly focus on high-value targets within the ASX300, Dateline’s proactive exploration strategy positions it well within the evolving market. With the company enhancing its profile among Australian-listed explorers, it also stands to attract interest among those evaluating ASX dividend stocks — especially in the context of long-term growth plays backed by tangible resource estimates and strong project economics.
The latest developments at Colosseum signal a pivotal phase for Dateline, as it transitions from data gathering to executing high-impact exploration that could reshape its future in the precious metals and rare earths space.
