- FDA greenlights Phase 1 trial for RV-01
- Targeting B7H3 in solid tumours with novel therapy
- Strategic isotope supply boosts development pipeline
Radiopharm Theranostics (ASX:RAD) has secured a significant milestone with investigational new drug clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for RV-01, a radiotherapeutic agent developed in collaboration with the MD Anderson Cancer Center. While the company is not currently part of the ASX 200 share price, this development strengthens its footprint in the evolving field of targeted cancer treatments.
RV-01 is designed to target B7H3, an immune checkpoint molecule frequently overexpressed in aggressive solid tumours. The molecule’s deregulated expression has been associated with tumour growth and unfavourable clinical outcomes. By leveraging the properties of RV-01—such as its liver clearance profile and targeted binding to the 4Ig isoform of B7H3—Radiopharm aims to explore new treatment options for high-risk and treatment-resistant cancers.
The upcoming Phase 1 clinical trial in humans marks a turning point for RV-01, offering researchers a closer look at how this therapy may interact within human biology after showing tumour regression and improved survival indicators in preclinical models.
In preparation for advancing RV-01 and other candidates in its pipeline, Radiopharm has also entered into a key agreement with ITM Isotope Technologies Munich for the supply of non-carrier-added Lutetium-177. This radioisotope is essential to several of the company’s most advanced projects, ensuring continuity in clinical trials and broader research efforts.
Adding to its scientific strength, Radiopharm has welcomed a globally respected medical expert in radiopharmaceutical therapies to its scientific advisory board. This appointment brings a wealth of clinical research experience, further supporting the company’s progression toward novel cancer treatments.
To support ongoing research and development, Radiopharm has also secured a tax refund under a national incentive program. These funds will be allocated towards its active projects focused on radiopharmaceutical innovation, enhancing its diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities.
With FDA clearance in hand and strategic partnerships in place, Radiopharm Theranostics is shaping a path forward in the radiopharmaceutical space. Its growing pipeline and clinical momentum continue to place it under the spotlight among emerging biotech companies on the ASX.
