Highlights

  • Sierra Nevada Gold readies to drill for silver at its Blackhawk project in Nevada.
  • Promising historical results suggest strong silver and polymetallic potential.
  • Expanded exploration efforts are planned for 2025.

Sierra Nevada Gold (ASX:SNX) is gearing up to start an exciting new drilling program at its Blackhawk project in Nevada. The company has set its sights on uncovering high-grade silver at the site, leveraging a reverse circulation rig to explore the area’s potential. Past exploration at Blackhawk has already revealed significant silver deposits, and the upcoming campaign aims to replicate and build on those successes.

Focus on High-Grade Silver in Epithermal Geology

The company plans to drill a total of 1,500 meters in this phase of exploration, targeting silver-rich epithermal geology. Previous drilling in the area has delivered promising results, with silver grades reaching up to 1,270 grams per tonne. These results came from zones close to the Endowment mine, a historic mining site that has shown potential for near-surface silver deposits. The upcoming drill run will focus on areas surrounding drillhole BHD006, which previously returned strong results, including a 12-meter intersection at 220 grams per tonne of silver.

Polymetallic Potential and Strategic Focus

Sierra Nevada Gold’s interest in Blackhawk extends beyond just silver. The project also shows significant potential for polymetallic deposits, which include high-grade lead, zinc, and gold alongside the silver. This combination of metals could create a high-value ore body that the company is keen to explore further. LIDAR surveys recently conducted at the Endowment mine have provided a clearer picture of where to direct the drill rigs, increasing the likelihood of success in the upcoming campaign.

Looking Ahead: Continued Exploration and Expansion

The company has approached this drill program with care and strategic planning, and the drilling is expected to last about two weeks. Results are anticipated within four to six weeks after the program’s completion. In the meantime, Sierra Nevada Gold will continue fieldwork at several other targets nearby, including Morning Star, Nellie, and San Francisco. This ongoing effort is part of a broader exploration strategy that includes an expanded drilling campaign planned for 2025.

With modern technology and refined exploration techniques, Sierra Nevada Gold hopes to unlock untapped potential at this historic mining site, positioning the Blackhawk project as a key part of its future development plans.
