  • Janus Electric partners with Electrovaya for advanced lithium-ion battery packs

  • New packs to be integrated into Janus’ swappable battery platform

  • Janus ends internal production to streamline commercial rollout

Australian clean transport technology company Janus Electric (ASX:JNS), listed on the ASX 200, has entered into a supply agreement with Electrovaya (TSX:ELVA) to deliver advanced lithium-ion battery packs for heavy transport. The collaboration is aimed at scaling Janus’ electrification efforts across its battery-as-a-service platform, aligning with the company’s ongoing commitment to zero-emission freight solutions.

The agreement is part of Janus’ plan to broaden its national reach across key logistics corridors in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia.

Next-Generation Battery Packs to Drive Efficiency Gains

Under the three-year arrangement, Janus Electric and Electrovaya will co-develop a customised battery pack tailored specifically to integrate with Janus’ swappable battery system and proprietary platform architecture. The battery packs will utilise Electrovaya’s proprietary lithium-ion cell technology and will be manufactured with a focus on safety and durability.

The custom packs will also offer enhanced operational benefits, such as increased life cycles and weight reduction, which translates into improved payload capacities for heavy vehicles.

Ownership and Quality Control at the Forefront of Development

Janus Electric will retain full ownership of the intellectual property relating to the design and form factor of the new battery packs. This ensures the company maintains control over the long-term evolution of its energy systems.

The company will also phase out its internal battery pack manufacturing to streamline production workflows and elevate the quality assurance process through its new supply arrangement. This shift is expected to enable faster and more standardised assembly procedures.

Expansion Pathway Aligned with Aftersales Infrastructure

The agreement with Electrovaya allows Janus Electric to tap into an established battery service network that spans Australia and North America. This infrastructure will support Janus’ commercial rollout efforts and provide a reliable framework for aftersales service and support.

According to company executives, the partnership represents a pivotal moment in scaling Janus' conversion technology and energy delivery model. It also addresses existing bottlenecks by introducing a high-cycle battery solution that aligns with operational requirements across key freight routes.

Janus Electric’s Role in Zero-Emission Freight Transition

As demand for sustainable logistics solutions continues to expand, Janus Electric remains focused on delivering high-performance energy systems for the heavy transport sector. With its latest battery supply partnership, the company is set to accelerate deployment while enhancing the reliability and lifespan of its energy solutions.
