Cosmo Metals identifies new mineralised zones at Mt Everest–Mona Mine trend
Rock chip sampling confirms copper and gold presence at Bingara Project
Spring Creek maiden drilling preparations underway alongside Nundle follow-up
Cosmo Metals Ltd (ASX:CMO), a base and precious metals explorer listed on the All Ordinaries, is progressing exploration efforts at the Bingara Project in New South Wales. The program is focused on a four-kilometre mineralised corridor stretching between Mt Everest and the Mona Mine.
This phase of activity builds upon recent fieldwork confirming copper mineralisation from historical workings, with results showing notable grades in both oxidised sulphide and supergene mineralisation zones.
Rock Chip Sampling Reinforces Historical Copper Zones
Sampling across the Mt Everest–Mona Mine volcanic massive sulphide (VMS) trend has returned results that reinforce previous records of high-grade copper occurrences. The mineralisation identified includes both sulphide-rich and malachite-bearing rock types, outlining zones of interest for further detailed investigation.
Additional elements such as gold, silver, and cobalt have also been detected, broadening the scope of the multi-element exploration strategy. The broader trend, which spans approximately twenty kilometres, shares geological similarities with Cyprus-style deposits known for their copper-rich profiles.
Data Integration Sharpens Exploration Focus
Cosmo has complemented its field observations with data from a recent LiDAR survey over the wider project area. This airborne survey helped map historical mine workings and surface features, offering clarity over previously undocumented alignments. At the Mt Everest and Mona Mine sites, historic pits were traced over substantial strike lengths, providing key geological context.
The data gathered through subaudio magnetotelluric (SAM) surveys further refined the subsurface understanding, aiding the company's aim to delineate target horizons with greater precision.
Systematic Exploration Strategy Builds Momentum
Managing Director Ian Prentice highlighted that the Bingara trend remains largely undrilled, describing the campaign as a strategic effort to build on historic data while advancing a modern, data-led approach. The integration of past explorer records with new geophysical and sampling results is central to Cosmo’s goal of uncovering fresh mineralised extensions.
Beyond Bingara, the company is planning to ramp up activities at Spring Creek, where preparations are underway for a maiden drilling campaign. Concurrently, high-priority follow-up work is also scheduled at Nundle, further reinforcing the company’s exploration pipeline in New South Wales.
Outlook for Spring Creek and Broader Project Areas
The upcoming Spring Creek drilling program is aimed at testing the vertical continuity of mineralisation and refining geological models around structural controls. Cosmo’s technical team is also focused on understanding whether the area hosts layered mineralised systems, a feature that could enhance exploration outcomes as drilling progresses.
With work programs spanning both copper and gold-bearing trends, Cosmo continues to consolidate its position as a regional base metals explorer, leveraging systematic data acquisition and historical synthesis to guide its forward strategy.
