In the series of its innovative projects, Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) has announced its ambitious Project Sunrise, which will feature flights that will be 100% carbon-offset.
As per the media reports, the Company has pledged to keep every seat carbon neutral in the wake of fighting the advent of ‘flight shaming’, witnessing some environmentally-aware travellers question the carbon cost of flying.
The Qantas flights from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to London, New York, Paris and Frankfurt will involve long, non-stop 18-20 hours of flying. Even though the fuel-efficient Airbus A350-1000 is handling them, they will still incur a huge CO2 footprint.
Meanwhile, the stock QAN closed 0.583% higher at A$5.170 per share with market capitalisation at A$9.69 billion.
