Vertex Minerals prepares for underground production at Reward Gold Mine
Gravity gold plant commissioning underway as mine development progresses
New equipment and processing upgrades introduced ahead of production phase
Gold sector company Vertex Minerals Ltd (ASX:VTX), listed on the All Ordinaries, is approaching production from its Reward Gold Mine as critical infrastructure developments near completion. The mine, located within the historic Hill End goldfield, is advancing through the final stages of preparation, with operations focused on high-grade underground extraction.
The company confirmed that its new electrical system is nearing commissioning, aligning with a revised mine schedule targeting enriched ore zones from initial stopes. Primary upgrades to mine access and ventilation, along with enhancements to the processing plant, support Vertex’s strategy to initiate ore processing in the coming weeks.
Development of High-Grade Zones and Mining Schedules Progress
Vertex continues to prepare both airleg and long hole stopes in line with the updated mine plan. These developments are integral to the staged production ramp-up, which aims to optimise ore recovery and throughput rates. According to the company’s outlined schedule, a combination of stope types will be incorporated into mining operations commencing next month.
An Aramine L350D loader, equipped with remote control technology, is also expected to arrive later in the quarter, supporting efficient material handling underground. This addition further aligns with the broader restart strategy being implemented at the Hill End project.
Processing Enhancements to Improve Gold Concentrate Grade
In preparation for full-scale operations, Vertex has completed installation of a gravity gold plant and expects to begin ore feed shortly. Modifications to processing infrastructure include gemini table upgrades aimed at enhancing concentrate quality. These improvements are designed to produce a higher-grade product that may be suitable for direct on-site smelting.
Additional enhancements such as a new process water pump are also in progress, contributing to the robustness of the processing facility and enabling a more streamlined start to production.
Leadership Emphasises Team Unity and Operational Focus
Company leadership highlighted the cohesion of the operational team as a key factor in the project’s momentum. Vertex Minerals’ director acknowledged the collective effort involved in preparing the site for production, crediting the alignment and dedication of staff across all levels.
As the company advances toward full production capability, its participation in the upcoming Noosa Mining Investor Conference is expected to highlight its development strategy to a broader audience.
Historic Gold Project Supports Broader Development Focus
Vertex Minerals remains committed to its broader exploration and development portfolio across key gold regions in New South Wales and Western Australia. The Reward project represents a milestone in the company’s redevelopment efforts, with plans to build on historical outputs through modern techniques and upgraded infrastructure.
