Resolution Minerals (ASX:RML) launches maiden fieldwork at Horse Heaven Project in Idaho, USA
Program focuses on surface sampling, mapping and geophysics ahead of August drilling
Exploration targets gold, antimony, silver, and tungsten in a historically rich district
Resolution Minerals Ltd (ASX:RML), listed on the All Ordinaries, has initiated its maiden exploration campaign at the Horse Heaven Project in Idaho, targeting a combination of gold, antimony, silver, and tungsten resources. The site is strategically positioned near the Stibnite Mining District, a historically active and strategically significant mining zone in the United States.
The program marks a significant milestone for Resolution’s expanding presence in North America’s critical minerals development space, and precedes the finalisation of the Horse Heaven acquisition, which is expected following an upcoming shareholder vote.
Exploration Strategy and Early Objectives
Resolution’s initial exploration work includes surface mapping, rock sampling, and geophysical investigations designed to delineate high-priority drill targets. The focus is on two structurally rich areas: the Golden Gate Fault Zone and the Antimony Ridge Fault Zone.
The company has also included initial field reconnaissance at nearby Vibeka Creek and Antimony Creek in its program. These activities aim to further define the geological layout and finalise drill targets before a scheduled August drill campaign.
Strategic and Historical Significance of the Region
The Horse Heaven Project carries significant historical weight, having previously supplied military-grade antimony during both world wars. The strategic value of this commodity has increased in recent years, particularly as the US continues to reduce reliance on imported antimony.
Tungsten extraction from the same area was also historically recorded, adding depth to the project’s multi-metal focus. These past production activities make the site a compelling candidate for re-evaluation under modern exploration techniques.
The project’s proximity to Perpetua Resources’ large-scale Stibnite Gold Mine further enhances its strategic location, with the geological settings of Horse Heaven’s key targets bearing close similarities to that neighbouring deposit.
Advancing Through Modern Techniques and Leadership Transition
Resolution is applying contemporary exploration techniques including soil geochemistry, geophysical surveying, and both reverse circulation and diamond drilling to deepen its geological model. The campaign is expected to build a foundation for resource definition work that may follow in the next stage of development.
The exploration is being led under the guidance of Craig Lindsay, incoming CEO of US operations. He noted the project’s favourable location, historical significance, and the exploration team’s goal of advancing Resolution’s North American critical minerals portfolio.
