Nine Mile Metals (CSE:NINE) adds Mike Dufresne to its technical advisory committee to support exploration activities
APEX Geoscience to assist in geological interpretation at Bathurst Mining Camp in New Brunswick
Company progressing work across four volcanogenic massive sulphide projects in the district
In a move aligning with broader developments in the mining sector tracked on ASX 200, Nine Mile Metals (CSE:NINE) has expanded its technical advisory team by appointing a new expert to support its exploration strategy in eastern Canada. The addition of Mike Dufresne, president and co-founder of APEX Geoscience, reinforces the company’s commitment to advancing its work in the Bathurst Mining Camp (BMC), a well-established volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) district.
Nine Mile's activities align with international exploration trends, including a focus on metals integral to modern technologies and low-emission energy systems. Dufresne’s experience across VMS projects is seen as a complement to ongoing data interpretation and geophysical analysis currently underway.
Geoscience Expertise to Support Project Implementation
Mike Dufresne’s inclusion in Nine Mile’s technical advisory committee follows years of global experience in geological consultancy and project execution. As a registered geologist with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick, Dufresne has been part of several exploration teams in Canada and internationally, including work in Western Australia.
APEX Geoscience, the firm co-founded by Dufresne, operates across multiple jurisdictions and offers geological interpretation, field services, and strategic support for mining projects. The collaboration aims to enhance geological modelling and data-driven planning for Nine Mile’s VMS assets.
Advancement of Bathurst Mining Camp Assets
The Bathurst Mining Camp covers a large land package and has long been recognised for its concentration of base and precious metal deposits. Known as one of Canada’s oldest and most productive base metal mining districts, the camp hosts multiple VMS occurrences that include copper, zinc, silver, lead, and gold. The area’s complex geology, shaped by ancient volcanic activity, makes it a focal point for modern exploration initiatives.
Nine Mile Metals is active across four properties in the district — Nine Mile Brook VMS Project, California Lake VMS Project, Canoe Landing Lake (East – West) VMS Project, and the Wedge VMS Project. These assets fall within the Bathurst Supergroup, which is geologically rich and structurally favourable for VMS-style mineralisation.
Collaboration Aims to Advance Exploration Goals
Vice-President of Exploration Gary Lohman noted that the advisory appointment is timely, supporting the company’s objectives for upcoming exploration phases. The integration of previous work from geophysics specialists EarthEx with APEX Geoscience’s interpretive capabilities is expected to enhance the understanding of subsurface mineralisation patterns.
Nine Mile continues to refine exploration strategies based on local geological features, combined with geophysical insights. The collaboration is positioned to support the execution of next-phase initiatives within its Bathurst portfolio, including modelling, drilling, and resource delineation.
Sector Dynamics and Broader Outlook
The mining sector continues to draw attention amid growing demand for metals linked to renewable energy infrastructure and electrification. While Nine Mile Metals operates on the Canadian Securities Exchange, broader resource development trends remain relevant across global equity benchmarks such as the ASX 200.
Recent market activity shows increasing engagement with companies developing critical and base metal projects. Nine Mile’s strategic advisory expansion comes as other players in the sector similarly prioritise data integration and regional expertise to advance technical milestones across key mining jurisdictions.
