Green360 completes first full-scale calcining of kaolin at its Pittong Operation
Processed metakaolin to be used in Victorian government infrastructure projects
Product introduction ongoing with major construction material firms
Green360 Technologies Ltd (ASX:GT3), listed on the All Ordinaries index, has commenced its first commercial-scale metakaolin production at its Pittong Operation in Victoria. The initiative supports Australia's transition to low-carbon infrastructure materials and marks a significant milestone for the company’s green cement roadmap.
The processed high-reactivity metakaolin, derived from kaolin waste material, is set to be integrated into upcoming Victorian government construction developments.
Transforming Tailings into Sustainable Infrastructure Material
The company’s initial calcining run involved the conversion of kaolin sourced from tailings dams and sediment ponds into metakaolin, a supplementary cementitious material that can replace a portion of traditional cement in concrete. This process aligns with broader environmental goals while demonstrating commercial-scale supply capabilities.
According to Green360's executive chairman, this breakthrough confirms the operational feasibility of the company’s supply chain and cost structure, key considerations for further adoption by public and private stakeholders.
Deployment Underway in Government Projects
The produced metakaolin will be deployed across multiple Victorian government infrastructure projects, where government agencies and construction contractors will evaluate its performance. This pilot phase provides a platform to validate consistency and build trust across the civil construction industry.
Green360 is currently engaging with a number of state departments and local councils, with additional announcements expected on the specific projects utilising the product. Estimates suggest between five and fifteen government works may trial the metakaolin over the coming months.
Engagement Broadens with Commercial Cement Supply Chain
In addition to public sector rollout, Green360 is also collaborating with established commercial suppliers in the cement sector. Notable names involved in the early-stage evaluations include Boral and Hanson, both of which are prominent in delivering concrete for public infrastructure builds.
The company aims to establish broader familiarity across major supply channels as part of its positioning as a consistent supplier of low-carbon cement components. With rising costs and environmental scrutiny impacting traditional materials, the introduction of alternative cement inputs such as metakaolin may gain traction in both public and private sector applications.
Sales Timeline and Material Availability
Green360 has confirmed the availability of significant kaolin reserves at its Pittong site, with additional tailings accessible as demand scales. Sales from trial activities are anticipated to commence later this year, following performance validation and regulatory processes.
