  • Quebec operations use renewable energy to support sustainable computing.

HIVE Digital Technologies (NASDAQ:HIVE) has unveiled plans to expand its operations in Quebec with a significant focus on artificial intelligence (AI). The company announced an investment in advanced NVIDIA GPU clusters, including 248 H100 GPUs and 508 H200 GPUs. These clusters aim to enhance high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities and AI-driven services.

Strategic Investment in Cutting-Edge Technology

HIVE plans to have its H100 GPU cluster operational by the end of 2024. The cluster is expected to generate substantial annualized revenue, complementing the arrival of the H200 cluster in January 2025. By the second quarter of 2025, these installations aim to exceed their projected performance benchmarks, highlighting the company's commitment to scaling AI computing infrastructure.

Renewable Energy Supporting Growth

Quebec operations will be powered entirely by renewable energy, aligning with HIVE's sustainability objectives. This approach not only reduces the environmental impact but also ensures that energy-intensive computing processes remain efficient.

Focus on AI and Cloud Computing

HIVE is leveraging these deployments to meet the growing demand for AI model training and cloud computing services. The company’s ability to provide AI computing solutions positions it strongly in a sector experiencing rapid growth. Revenue projections for the new clusters indicate that the 10 MW of NVIDIA HPC chips dedicated to AI workloads will deliver returns comparable to 100 MW of Bitcoin mining.

Positioning for Future AI Growth

As AI applications expand globally, HIVE’s investments in advanced GPU technology and sustainable energy practices could solidify its role in the competitive HPC services market.
