UiPath (NYSE: PATH), a prominent enterprise automation and AI software company, has been recognized as a Leader in The Forrester Wave™: Document Mining and Analytics Platforms, Q2 2024. This prestigious acknowledgment underscores UiPath's strengths in document processing and its innovative approach to leveraging AI for automation.

Forrester's Acclaim for UiPath

The Forrester Wave report highlights several key strengths of UiPath's platform:

  • Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) accuracy verification and improvement processes
  • Machine learning (ML)-based AI
  • Advanced document labeling for supervised ML

The platform also stands out for its use of generative AI (GenAI) in document mining processes, both in pre-processing (prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation) and post-processing (validation).

Reference customers commended the platform’s business value, quick time to value, and robust relationship with the vendor. They highlighted the HITL accuracy verification, business user self-service capabilities, cross-document mining, architecture, data security features, and the user experience of data analytics. One customer specifically noted the integration of document processing and process automation as a key differentiator.

UiPath's Intelligent Document Processing

UiPath’s Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) harnesses automation, specialized AI, and GenAI to overcome traditional obstacles in document processing. These challenges include the high variability in document formats, difficulty in managing unstructured data, and the labor-intensive nature of model training. Recently, UiPath introduced Large Language Models (LLMs) within its Document Understanding product, significantly enhancing the platform’s ability to process freeform unstructured documents like legal agreements, contracts, and emails at scale.

The new LLMs, DocPath and CommPath, are tailored for document processing and communications, respectively. These models eliminate the need for imprecise and time-consuming prompt engineering, offering enterprises tools to customize AI models to their specific needs. This capability allows organizations to understand a wide variety of document types and message formats accurately.

Performance and Innovation

In testing, UiPath's DocPath demonstrated remarkable accuracy, with error rates 45% to 76% lower compared to leading GenAI models. It also excelled in interpreting complex table structures, with 30% to 65% fewer extraction errors than other IDP and GenAI vendors. Furthermore, GenAI within UiPath IDP dramatically reduces the time required to train models to understand specific documents and forms, cutting the training time by up to 80%, from weeks to just hours or a couple of days.

Introducing Context Grounding

To meet the demand for safe and reliable use of business data with AI models, UiPath has introduced Context Grounding, a new feature within the UiPath AI Trust Layer now in private preview. Context Grounding enhances the accuracy of GenAI models by providing them with a foundation of business context through retrieval-augmented generation. This feature extracts information from company-specific datasets, such as knowledge bases or internal policies, to generate more accurate and insightful responses.
