Thoughtworks (NASDAQ:TWKS), a global technology consultancy known for its integration of strategy, design, and engineering, has announced a strategic collaboration with AI Singapore (AISG). This partnership aims to drive innovation in Generative AI (GenAI) by developing novel methods, tools, and best practices that enable meaningful evaluation of GenAI applications.

The rise of GenAI presents unique challenges, particularly due to its reliance on massive datasets and complex algorithms. These challenges have significant implications for the widespread adoption of GenAI technologies. Dr. Leslie Teo, senior director of AI Products at AI Singapore, underscored the importance of building a robust AI ecosystem: “At AI Singapore, we are dedicated to anchoring deep national capabilities, creating social and economic impact, nurturing local talent, and fostering a vibrant AI ecosystem.”

The collaboration, formalized during the Public Sector Day Singapore—an event organized by AWS and GovInsider—was established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This marks the second collaboration between Thoughtworks and AI Singapore. The agreement specifically focuses on accelerating the development and deployment of AI applications through several key initiatives.

One of the primary components is the establishment of joint research and training initiatives. This aspect of the collaboration will engage both organizations in collaborative research projects aimed at exploring cutting-edge AI and analytics technologies. Additionally, they will develop and deliver training programs designed to enhance competencies in the field of AI, equipping tech innovators with essential skills and knowledge.

Another significant aspect of the collaboration is the promotion of collaborative knowledge and infrastructure exchange. This will involve sharing resources and expertise, particularly Thoughtworks’ knowledge in lean product development, agile practices, and cloud technologies. The partnership aims to create a collaborative infrastructure that supports joint research efforts while facilitating the transfer of technology and knowledge between the two organizations.

Shayan Mohanty, head of AI research at Thoughtworks, commented on the partnership, noting, “This collaboration will enable us to leverage each other’s strengths and tap into Singapore’s deep national capabilities in AI.” He highlighted the intention to integrate the expertise of both organizations, which collectively brings over three decades of experience in innovation and technology.

A key focus of the MOU will be on advancing research related to large language models (LLMs). The Thoughtworks AI research team will work alongside AISG to evaluate the accuracy, efficacy, costs, and risks associated with these models. This evaluation is crucial for enabling organizations to transition from initial proof-of-concept stages to full-scale production of AI applications.
