Huize Holding Limited (NASDAQ:HUIZ), a leading insurance technology platform in Asia, announced its unaudited results for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. The Company delivered significant growth in both premiums and revenue while also returning to profitability.
Gross written premiums facilitated on the platform totaled RMB1,796.5 million (US$250.8 million), up 34.4% from the same period in 2024. Within this, first year premiums (FYP) accounted for RMB1,127.9 million (US$157.6 million), rising 73.1% year-over-year and representing 62.8% of total GWP. Renewal premiums stood at RMB668.6 million (US$93.3 million), a slight 2.5% decline from Q2 2024.
Total revenue for the quarter reached RMB396.7 million (US$55.4 million), marking a 40.2% increase from RMB283.0 million in Q2 2024. This growth was primarily fueled by the strong performance of FYP.
Cost Optimization and Efficiency Gains
Operating costs increased 48.1% year-over-year to RMB287.8 million (US$40.2 million), largely due to higher channel expenses. However, efficiency initiatives and AI-driven productivity enhancements helped offset these pressures.
Selling expenses rose modestly by 12.0% to RMB52.5 million (US$7.3 million), driven by higher staff compensation. In contrast, general and administrative expenses dropped sharply by 47.1% to RMB26.3 million (US$3.7 million), reflecting reduced share-based compensation, lower rental and utilities expenses, and workforce optimization. Research and development expenses also fell 11.8% to RMB16.0 million (US$2.2 million).
As a result, the Company’s expense-to-income ratio improved significantly from 40.5% in Q2 2024 to 23.9% in Q2 2025.
Return to Profitability
Huize achieved a GAAP net profit attributable to common shareholders of RMB10.9 million (US$1.5 million) in Q2 2025, compared to a net loss of RMB23.3 million in the prior-year quarter. On a non-GAAP basis, the Company reported net profit of RMB7.6 million (US$1.1 million), compared to a net loss of RMB13.0 million in Q2 2024.
