Saipem S.p.A, an Italian firm specializing in engineering and construction services, has been awarded a major contract for an offshore project in Qatar. QatarEnergy LNG, a subsidiary of QatarEnergy, has chosen Saipem to handle this large-scale project valued at $4 billion. The project is part of the North Field production sustainability offshore compression complexes program, focusing on offshore infrastructure.
As part of this agreement, Saipem will manage the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and installation of six platforms. In addition to this, the company is responsible for laying approximately 100 km of rigid subsea pipelines. These pipelines, with diameters of 28 inches and 24 inches, will be constructed from a special alloy designed to resist corrosion, ensuring long-term durability.
This project emphasizes Saipem’s expertise in offshore engineering and strengthens its collaboration with QatarEnergy, contributing to the development of vital energy infrastructure.
