A Major Healthcare sector player, ANGLE PLC has announced a significant partnership with NuProbe USA aimed at accelerating the development of a pioneering "pan-cancer" molecular sequencing assay. This advancement could revolutionize cancer diagnostics by integrating ANGLE's Parsotix liquid biopsy system with NuProbe’s cutting-edge technology.
Innovative Diagnostic Approach
The collaboration between ANGLE PLC (OTC:ANPCF) and NuProbe allows for the combined analysis of circulating tumor cell DNA (CTC-DNA) alongside circulating tumor cells (CTCs), all from a single blood sample. This dual-pronged method enhances the ability to assess a cancer's genetic profile comprehensively, potentially leading to improved diagnostic capabilities and treatment options for patients.
Under the terms of the agreement, ANGLE gains access to NuProbe's next-generation sequencing (NGS) panel, which is designed to analyze both CTCs and ctDNA. The partnership includes an option for an exclusive global license—excluding China—for commercial applications of the NGS panel, allowing ANGLE to expand its diagnostic offerings significantly.
Advanced Genetic Detection
NuProbe's diagnostic technology is capable of detecting more than 6,500 DNA mutations across 61 clinically significant cancer genes. This extensive validation process has been successfully conducted using Illumina sequencers, enhancing the reliability and effectiveness of the tests.
Karen Miller, ANGLE’s chief scientific officer, emphasized the value of this dual analysis approach, noting that it can yield additional and complementary insights. This is expected to benefit pharmaceutical service clients by providing unparalleled and repeatable data regarding a variety of cancers. In the long run, this innovative method aims to support clinicians in optimizing personalized treatment plans for cancer patients.
Future Directions
The partnership is positioned to significantly advance ANGLE's capabilities in the oncology diagnostics space. By leveraging both companies' technologies, there is potential for a more robust understanding of cancer biology, which can facilitate more precise and individualized treatment strategies.
The collaboration aligns with a broader trend in the healthcare sector towards integrating advanced genetic analysis into routine clinical practices. As the landscape of cancer treatment continues to evolve, ANGLE's initiatives highlight the importance of innovative technologies in improving patient outcomes.
