Robinhood Markets Inc (NASDAQ:HOOD) has officially introduced its highly anticipated desktop trading platform, 'Robin Hood Legend', alongside enhancements to its mobile app that now supports futures and index options trading. This development marks a strategic move for the fintech company, which has gained prominence among retail investors, as it seeks to compete more effectively with established brokerages by catering to a broader range of trading activities.

The 'Robin Hood Legend' platform is designed with advanced trading tools, real-time data, and customizable layouts, providing users with a more sophisticated trading experience. Additionally, the mobile app now enables users to trade futures linked to popular assets such as the S&P 500, oil, and bitcoin. Robinhood positions itself attractively with competitive pricing, charging as low as 50 cents per contract for Gold members, which is below the pricing offered by traditional competitors like Charles Schwab and E*TRADE.

In tandem with Robinhood's developments, Altech Batteries Ltd (ASX

, OTC

) has made significant strides in lithium-ion battery technology. The company has achieved a remarkable 55% increase in energy capacity for lithium-ion battery anodes by employing its Silumina Anodes™ technology. This advancement, which blends alumina-coated silicon particles with battery-grade graphite, results in a composite anode that boasts a retention capacity of 500 mAh/g, surpassing the previous maximum of 320 mAh/g found in traditional graphite-only anodes.

Altech's innovation is viewed as a pivotal advancement in harnessing silicon's potential within lithium-ion batteries, with the company having completed a definitive feasibility study for an 8,000-tonnes-per-annum production plant. This study reveals strong economic prospects, including a robust pre-tax net present value and an impressive internal rate of return. Furthermore, Altech has finalized construction of a pilot plant and is currently in the hot commissioning phase, paving the way for market entry.
